11 months ago hogan had a lot of god-given ability. great hand-eye coordination, and abnormally long arms. he wasn’t tall at 5′7″, but with his long arms he had a long swing and kept up distance-wise. the rest of it was just a dogged determination to be the best golfer he could possibly be. i don’t know it that’s something you can coach.
keep in mind, it was the depression. there wasn’t much else to do.

@cpond007 Don’t be deceived by the apparent length of Ben’s arms. Pants were worn quite high–at the waist–in Ben’s day, as opposed to the hip-cut pants we have today. So although Ben’s arms hang far below his belt, they’re actually not that long.

    Some of the best …
Some of the best and most valuable coverage of Hogan ever captured. Unique in its setting and atmosphere. I hope the gentleman who owns the original footage will market a DVD. I’d pay $50 or $75 for just footage with the option to loop individual swings — music like there is here, but please no commentary. I’m sure something Luke that would sell very well and would prove valuable to the multitude of golfers who revere this magestic motion.

This is like gold. Fantastic reference material. There is not much out there of him hitting half wedge type shots. Absolutely fantastic camera angles, particularly from behind showing his left side clearing. Wonder what he was explaining at 1:25? Don’t ever take this video down.
